M.I.A...

I've missed you guys! What a crazy few weeks! Some great things going on and some not so great.

Great... we moved into an adorable new house with much more space for our friends, our family and of course my dishes.

Not so great... Shawn's grandpa passed away. It was very sad to lose him but celebrating his life with family was very special. His mom came into town from NJ and even with the sad circumstance we made the best of  her visit.  She was able to meet my parents and best friends for the first time and see both the apartment building we own and our new place. I think we are closer to talking her into moving to Dallas too.

Great... TVD supplied dishes for a sweet shower this past weekend and booked a HUGE wedding for October. The shower hostess lives just a few blocks from our new place so I was able to meet a neighbor in the process. She was nice enough to share some photos with me.  The serving pieces are not mine but I wish they were.

Here's to hoping the next month brings all great things for us all.

On the hunt...

I'm always on the hunt for vintage dishes so when I saw there were 4 thrift stores in Fredericksburg I knew I'd find the time to at least check out a few.  While Mere was preparing a delish brunch for us before we hit up the wineries, Michelle and I hit up the F'burg Goodwill and the Hill Country Memorial Hospice Thrift Store. The GW was a flop but Chelle and I found some great things at the HCMH shop.

Here are my finds plus a few pics of dishes we've added to TVD's inventory...

Nice little haul...

Pretty little coffee cups and a fabulous platter with scalloped edge.

I've started collecting milk glass for my sister's Summer 2014 wedding.
I love the rim of this plate!

F'burg or BUST...

My 3 best girlfriend's and I took a much needed few days away this past weekend to the Texas Hill Country. We had been looking forward to this trip for ages and we took full advantage of all Fredericksburg has to offer. Namely wine, wine and more wine.

First order of business... coffee.
If you live in Dallas and haven't had the sig latte at Pearl Cup you should be ashamed.
As the group "travel agent" I was in charge of finding the perfect place to call home for the weekend. On the recommendation of a friend from college I searched Absolute Charm Luxury Bed and Breakfasts and found Augusta's Haus. It was perfect! We couldn't have been happier with the accommodations.

The first day we were there we explored Main Street. We started early at the biergarten sampling our fair share of local brews and had lunch (and 2 bottles of wine) at Herb Farm, a great cafe, shop and of course, herb farm a few blocks off the beaten path.

The Herb Garden
Touring a handful of wineries was already on the itinerary but Meredith surprised us with a limo! It was a blast! We shared the tour with 3 sisters who were in town celebrating the oldest's birthday. We couldn't have chosen better car mates.  They were a blast! (unfortunately, I didn't get any pics of the limo or wineries and my girlfriends haven't had a chance to share theirs.)

We will definitely make a trip back to Fredericksburg.  I hope sooner than later.

A spot of tea...

Or coffee or mousse or cupcakes or berries and cream or flowers or succulents or ice cream or... The list of creative ways to use teacups and saucers for your next party is basically endless! I started thinking about all the ways these gorgeous little vessels could be used after TVD provided 30 for a baby shower this past weekend. They served lemon mousse in the mismatched tea cups which I think is genius! I told the hostess I thought so and also told her I was totally going to rip off the idea for the next baby shower I host which just so happens to be the first weekend of August.

Here are some great photos for inspiration and also a few pics of a small portion of TVD's teacup collection. (We have about 120 cup and saucer pairs)
